transitioning to spring

we are coming up on an awkward stage of weather. it is still too cold to wear all out spring outfits, but warm enough that a chunky sweater is just too much. this sleeveless turtleneck is such a great piece for transitioning from winter to spring. because the turtleneck itself is such a dark color, pair it with springy colors like I did here with a jacket and necklace. you can find similar sweaters here and here {the iced rose is so pretty!}

its Tuesday which means ‘this is us’ is on! anyone else watching it? i think it is probably one of the most wholesome, emotional, pull on your heart strings show. if you’ve been debating whether to watch is just trust me when i say you should! *just found out that the show will not be on tonight due to the presidential congress. it returns March 7th!*

thanks for stopping by today!

cognac crossbody |stitch fix no. 7

in a recent “crushin’ on” post I talked about a purse I had my eye on for spring. I was so thankful that my stylist saw that post when she was curating my Stitch Fix and sent me this awesome cognac crossbody! it is a perfect size and even has an expansion section on the bottom. i am really impressed with the quality and love the herringbone lining! this bag is a perfect replacement for the black tote i have been carrying now that we are heading into spring.  if you’d like to request this item in your next Fix it is called the “Octavia Brooks Crossbody Bag.”

interested in trying Stitch Fix for yourself? they offer styling for women, maternity and men. click here to get started!

the weather here has been absolutely gorgeous! our 50+ inches of snow is melting away and coat wearing has been optional. i’ve been slowly bringing out warmer weather pieces like these lace up flats to add to my outfits and it is getting me excited for spring!  I know it is only february, but i am really ready for warmer weather to be here to stay!

spring with warby parker

about a year ago, I received my first ‘home try-on’ from Warby Parker. {see that post here} I had so much fun trying on these frames from the comfort of my own home and getting friends opinions on their favorites. when Warby Parker reached out to me to help announce their new spring line I was thrilled! they have fun and unique collections perfect for any personality. I also just love that they offer ‘home try-on.’ you are able to pick out 5 frames that you would like to try to make sure they are a perfect fit before you purchase them. below are my favorites from the new spring  collection and they are ALL available for ‘home try-on’!

durand-deep sea blue fade

laurel 17-rose quartz

olive-pearled tortoise

welty-eastern bluebird fade

wilkie-whisky tortoise

to start your ‘home try-on’ click here!

they also just released a new line called ‘metal moment.’  I love rose gold everything so these frames instantly caught my eye! although this collection is not available for home try-on, I had to share my favorite pair with you.

Warby Parker glasses are both practical and fashionable. what do you think of their spring collection?

casual valentine’s day outfit

because valentines day is on a Tuesday this year, I thought I would share a casual look that is easy to bring from day to night. I recently bought this kimono from Kittsona in Bismarck and absolutely love it! they have a similar one in purple that will be available in stores on wednesday! {you can find it on their facebook page it is called “all night lace kimono”} i love shopping local. you can find such unique pieces that you won’t find anywhere else! you can find Kittsona in Bismarck, Grand Forks, Fargo, Minneapolis or shop online with FREE SHIPPING always.

my earrings are from the new jewelry line at target I talked about in Friday’s post! they are so fun and i know i will be wearing them a ton this spring!

valentine’s day is always pretty low key for us. it has been a tradition to get the “heartbaker” pizza from Papa Murpheys and watch a movie together. with andrew being a full time student, even those nights where we lay low together are few and far between. i am so excited to spend some extra time with him on a week night!

i hope you feel extra loved by your family and friends today. happy valentine’s day!

the art of marriage

Andrew and I had the privilege of helping out with and speaking at a marriage conference at our church this past weekend called “the art of marriage.” we attended the conference last year and really enjoyed it. it is so nice to take a weekend to focus on your marriage and spend time with your spouse. some of the topics covered were the purpose of marriage, the drift to isolation, gender roles, communication, conflict resolution, intimacy, and legacy.

we spoke on communication and conflict. we realized that the majority of our issues in these areas stemmed from our personality differences. we had to learn early on to try to see hard situations through the eyes of our spouse. we also had to remember that our spouse is not “wrong” they just think differently than we do and that is ok! if we were the exact same that would be super boring. marriage is not easy and conflicts will arise. we strive to confront the conflict as soon as it comes up. Listen to your spouse, be slow to anger, apologize when necessary, and quick to forgive.

this conference is great for engaged couples, newlyweds and even those who have been married for a long time! you don’t need to be struggling in your marriage to attend. there are always things you can be working on and it is a great refresher of how to have a Christ centered marriage.

if you don’t know of an “art of marriage” conference happening near you, there is another opportunity called “weekend to remember.” Andrew’s parents encouraged us to go as an engaged couple and we would really like to go again now that we are married to get the full experience. the content is similar to “the art of marriage” however it is more of a getaway where you stay in a hotel all weekend and learn from live speakers. I listed the getaways coming up in the Midwest. we would really encourage you to go!

Great marriages don’t just happen. Be intentional with yours.

lipsense is all the rage right now and I am very intrigued by it. I tend to wear lipstick on a daily basis. I wear this {in honey} for everyday and have some fun colors for special occasions. my current lipstick gets all over my coffee cup and water bottle and is gone within an hour or two. I’m really curious to see if lipsense lives up to the hype!

I am so excited to share about a new jewelry line at Target! it is called sugarfix by baublebar and is available now! baublebar’s statement earrings are adorable and I have had my eye on a few for quite some time. however, the price is usually over $30 per pair. their new line at target are in the $10-$20 range and just as cute. I think I may need to buy the entire line.

the cold weather is finally getting to me and I have major spring summer fever. how cute is this swimsuit from old navy? I love that they are making such fun one piece suits now! last year I tried one from old navy and it only came up to my rib cage. really hoping they made them longer this year!

I have been wanting a pair of shoes like these for-ev-er. in fact, I posted about a pair on my very first crushin’ on post here. these are dupes for steve madden sneakers and come in 4 colors.

the throw pillows we currently have on our couch are as flat as pancakes. they look a little ridiculous and I think it is time for some new ones! I also like this one.

hope you all have a fabulous weekend! we are going attending/ helping out with a marriage conference at our church called “the art of marriage” and i am so excited about it. i’ll be sharing more all about the conference next week!
