mother’s day gift ideas

mothers day gift guide

mother’s day is right around the corner have you gotten your mom a gift? i’ve heard a quote that said “when your mom deserves and island but all you can afford is a candle.” i think that quote is so true. my mom is seriously one amazing woman and she deserves so much more than i could ever give her. however, she does like candles and that seems like a good gift idea!

3-wick candle: i am obsessed with these candles from bath and body works and for mother’s day they came out with these adorable candles just for moms. with summer coming you can never go wrong with a new scent! my favorites are: cactus blossom, tiki beach and endless weekend.

write the word: this is a great gift idea! i’ve talked about these bible journals a few times on the blog. they just revamped them and i can’t wait to get my hands on them! there are 5 different journals and this particular yellow one is “cultivate joy.” you can purchase them here!

make-up eraser: ok so this one has my mom’s name written all over it. it never fails that when she comes to visit she asks for our darkest washcloth to wash her face and remove her makeup. this make-up eraser from nordstrom wipes away all of your makeup {even waterproof} with just water! say what?! i think she needs it.

stamped family necklace: these necklaces are so pretty and a personalized gift is always fun to give! the large disc can hold 15 characters and is a perfect modern idea in place of a “mothers ring.”

Stitch Fix Gift Card: want to get your mom some new clothing but have no idea what she would like? get some help from a Stitch Fix stylist by getting her a Stitch Fix Gift Card! this is especially a good idea if you don’t have time to get to a store before mother’s day. you can either print out the gift card and give it to her or send it via email!

st. tropez self tanner kit: i have heard amazing things about this self tanner. the older i get the more i try to stay out of the sun. we all want to be tan but we also need to protect our skin! this kit is limited edition and a steal of a deal!

origins masks: this gift set contains three of origins amazing face masks. i have tried the charcoal mask and it is a serious game changer! this is one of those gifts that i might just need to pick one up for myself too.

hope this helps you out as your scrambling to get your mom a gift! don’t forget mother’s day is this sunday may 14th!

happy friday lovelies!

this fun spring water bottle is from caribou coffee! you can use it as a water bottle or a tumbler.  it keeps my water cold for so long! i just love it.

normally i am a pretty neutral person but i can’t stop looking at this colorful clutch from target!

ok, you’ve heard me talk about Lipsense and even months later i am still loving it! praline rose was the second color i bought and it is my go to. if you would like to order Lipsense click here!

these $14 marble sunglasses are such a good deal!

i just ordered a fix from Stitch Fix and asked for some espadrille flats similar to these! espadrilles are really popular right now and i like them in both flats or wedges!

recently i’ve been really into graphic tees and i think i need to scoop up this one from old navy.

hope you all have a wonderful weekend! we may be heading to a barn dance tonight which i am super excited for. andrew and i love to dance so we try to take every opportunity to do that together! plus it is going to be in the 70’s all weekend! woohoo!

the lipstick that won’t budge

IMG_20170314_170004_942

if you are on any type of social media, you’ve likely heard about Lipsense! Lipsense is a kiss proof, smudge proof, water proof lipcolor. sounds too good to be true doesn’t it?  my friend Amy recently became a distributor so I decided it was time to finally try it! I picked a starter kit which includes the lip color {I chose ‘apple cider’}, gloss, and an oops remover. all three products are essential so if you’re new to Lipsense be sure to get a starter kit! in order to give you a fair review, I used my Lipsense exclusively for 10 days. its been 10 days and the verdict is in: I love it!

for the past few years I have been a big lipstick fan. I can’t even tell you how many tubes I have. some problems I have noticed with regular lipsticks is 1. they don’t last 2. the color {especially bold colors} get everywhere! all over my water bottle, coffee cup, and lets be honest…my teeth! 3. the color fades and dries out. Lipsense solves all of these problems! it stays on all day long. once applied, it literally DOES NOT MOVE. you wont see any trace of it anywhere! the color actually chemically bonds to your lips so it is going to stay nice and vibrant all day. {your lips do go through an “exfoliation” stage to get all the waxy junk off your lips from other products. after that stage though the color stays beautifully} the gloss also helps seal in the color and keeps it looking freshly applied! have I convinced you yet?

below are the colors on my wish list! I tried “praline rose” in a boutique once and really liked it. I almost bought it when I got my first color but was looking for more of an everyday color. they also have different types of gloss! this rose gloss caught my eye because of the hint of pink!

TODAY IS THE DAY! I am hosting a Lipsense online party with Amy  from  “Amy’s Ever After Lips” I am so excited! if you have any questions about Lipsense or would like help picking out a color let me know. hope you join the fun!

{here is a facebook live video I did with more information about Lipsense!}

happy St. Patrick’s Day and, best of all, happy Friday everyone! sorry I have been a little MIA this week on the blog. I’ve been a little more active over on instagram {@thoseprettypieces} and my facebook page! {those pretty pieces} did you see my first facebook live?

I thought I’d end the week with a new crushin’ on post!

|one| this peplum top is so cute! it looks really long which is a huge perk and this olive green color is one of my favorites! it is from Target and is only $14.99!

|two| have you tried the iced cinnamon almond milk macchiato from starbucks yet? it seriously tastes like a liquefied cinnamon roll and is so good!

|three| i just got this carry on luggage from target! {the champagne color I bought is sold out} I really love it and a review will be coming soon!

|four| I picked up this springy blue color from Tj Maxx the other day but you can find it here. they sell OPI and Essie polishes for under $5! what is your favorite nail color for spring?

|five| did you know that if you sign up to be a beauty insider at Sephora you receive a free gift in your birthday month? my birthday is tomorrow and this month the gift was this tarte blush and lipstick set! this blush is called “paaarty” and is such a perfect pink.

|six| if you follow me on snapchat {lgowen} you probably know that I finally got a new phone! I had been living in the stone age with my Iphone 4s and was in desperate need of an upgrade. I was very impressed with the camera on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and decided to go with that one, in gold of course.

|seven| how cute are these rose gold sunnies? they are a steal at $12!

lipsense is all the rage right now and I am very intrigued by it. I tend to wear lipstick on a daily basis. I wear this {in honey} for everyday and have some fun colors for special occasions. my current lipstick gets all over my coffee cup and water bottle and is gone within an hour or two. I’m really curious to see if lipsense lives up to the hype!

I am so excited to share about a new jewelry line at Target! it is called sugarfix by baublebar and is available now! baublebar’s statement earrings are adorable and I have had my eye on a few for quite some time. however, the price is usually over $30 per pair. their new line at target are in the $10-$20 range and just as cute. I think I may need to buy the entire line.

the cold weather is finally getting to me and I have major spring summer fever. how cute is this swimsuit from old navy? I love that they are making such fun one piece suits now! last year I tried one from old navy and it only came up to my rib cage. really hoping they made them longer this year!

I have been wanting a pair of shoes like these for-ev-er. in fact, I posted about a pair on my very first crushin’ on post here. these are dupes for steve madden sneakers and come in 4 colors.

the throw pillows we currently have on our couch are as flat as pancakes. they look a little ridiculous and I think it is time for some new ones! I also like this one.

hope you all have a fabulous weekend! we are going attending/ helping out with a marriage conference at our church called “the art of marriage” and i am so excited about it. i’ll be sharing more all about the conference next week!

valentine’s day gift guide| for her

valentines-day-her

monogram | mug | perfume | sweatshirt | nespressostitch fix gift card

we are only a few weeks away from Valentines Day so I thought I would put together a little gift guide. these items are perfect for a friend, sister, mom or even to show your significant other to give ideas for YOU. flowers and dinner seem to be the norm so I thought I’d share some items that are out of the ordinary!

this monogram necklace has been a “most worn” item of mine this year! they come in a variety of finishes and sizes. {I believe mine is 2.5 inches, 16 in chain and in the gold acrylic} I love giving personalized gifts and this one is just perfect!

this mug is adorable and its pink. sold.

viva la juicy by juicy couture has been one of my favorite scents for quite a while! it is a little more florally than the original which is what I like most about it.

Christine Andrew’s boutique ILY couture has some super cute graphic tees and sweatshirts for valentines day. I also love this one and this one.

you’ve heard me talk about my starbucks verismo machine before and this nespresso machine looks equally as great. these machines are a great investment and will save you $$$$ if you’re known to frequent the starbucks drive thru {you know who you are}

stitch fix gift card is another great idea! I even heard that one of my friends husbands ordered her a stitch fix {filled out the style profile for her and everything} and was spot on with all her measurements and style preferences. what a guy!

do you have any other gift ideas?

happy happy friday! we did it-we made it to the weekend! it had been a while since I have done a crushin’ on post so I thought I would bring it back this week.

I saw this purse on the small things blog’s post yesterday. lighter colored purses are going to be really popular this spring and I love the shape and size of this one.

I got a sample of It cosmetics bye bye under eye from Ulta the other day and have been really impressed. it is a WATERPROOF concealer! it is super thick so a little goes a long way and man it is good stuff.

I’ve been {trying} to make a habit of working out 3 days a week. so far I’m failing, but I think having some new athletic gear could really help! I always wear pants to the gym and I love the detail in these leggings.

Lot 2029 posted on instagram about this hat this morning. I love it!

my 1 inch curling iron recently died so I picked up this 25 mm NuMe wand from Ulta. curling tutorial coming soon!

hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I have zero plans which is my favorite kind of weekend. what do y’all have planned?
