as much as i am ready for all things fall, it has still been pretty hot out so i thought i would share one more summer outfit with you! this embroidered top from Stitch Fix
has been on repeat ever since i got it in my last box. i generally go for neutral colors in my closet but i love the pop of color in this top. there were a few similar tops and dresses i had pinned on my stitch fix inspiration board on Pinterest and am so happy my sytlist saw those and sent me this top! i had meant to post this look weeks ago but i had a little mishap and i wasn’t sure if i would be able to even show it at all! here’s the story:

so my sweet husband did the laundry for me and accidentally shrunk this shirt. like it looked like a preschooler could have worn it. it was so short! i was super sad because i had just gotten it and hadn’t seen anything similar in local stores. i looked at the tag and it said the shirt was made of 100% rayon. anything made of rayon is notorious for shrinking and i really should have known better before i just threw it in the basket. i decided to search google for any hope of ‘unshrinking’ my new top and guess what? i was able to make it good as new!

my secret formula:

mix 1 tablespoon of hair conditioner into 4 cups of warm water. soak garment for 10 minutes. wring it out, lay flat and gently stretch in every way. stretch the garment a few more times as it dries.

i was so relieved that it worked and that the little laundry mistake didn’t completely ruin my new shirt. if you ever find yourself if that situation make sure you give this trick a try. i am so glad i did!

ask a stylist: your stitch fix questions answered

hello lovelies! as you know, i have been a Stitch Fix customer for quite some time. I love getting my box of hand selected goodies and sharing my stylist’s picks with you here on Those Pretty Pieces. recently I had the opportunity to ask one of Stitch Fix’s
lovely stylists, Talleda, a few questions about her experience as a stylist.

Stitch-Fix-Stylist-Talleda-R

What do you love most about being a Stitch Fix Stylist?

The relationships I have with my Clients are the most special thing to me about styling. We get to follow along with our Client’s through college graduations, new jobs, weddings, moves, births of their children – it’s amazing. I have Clients whose ages range from 15 to 75 and I love that no day is the same and no Fix is the same. When you really nail a Fix and your Client’s let you know you have impacted their life or helped make them feel more confident, that is the best kind of job perk.

What is the most helpful to you when styling a client? Style profile? Pinterest board? Previous feedback?

You already knew where I was headed! Yes, yes and yes. All of it helps immensely! Feedback is so incredibly helpful, especially when you fill me in on fit and style details. Letting me know if an item is fitting too long in the sleeves or tight in the thighs helps me understand your body type better and find pieces that are really personalized for you.

Do you style for women, men, maternity and plus or just one?

I am honored and privileged to style women, men, maternity, plus, petite and non-gender clients! How lucky am I?! However, some of our stylists style only women’s, it really varies. Some of our expert stylists are also on our Ask A Stylist team, and if you haven’t ever asked us a question, you should! We give free expert style advice (if I do say so myself), even if our readers are not clients of ours. Men can get in on the action as well!

– Talleda R.

thank you so much Talleda for taking the time to answer some questions for us! it is so fun to hear a little bit from ‘behind the scenes.’ did you know that Stitch Fix hires stylists in some major cities including minneapolis? hello dream job!

I am so excited to share this outfit because my top, shorts and sandals are all from Stitch Fix! I think this outfit is adorable. it is casual but still has some fun pieces to keep it interesting. my top is actually a bodysuit! i was really glad that my stylist sent me a bodysuit. it is something i had been wanting to try but hadn’t yet. surprisingly, i really liked it! It is so comfortable and no fuss. i know they seem kind of strange, but you should definitely try one! i paired it with these high waisted shorts that have the perfect amount of distressing. did you know Stitch Fix had shoes?! i loved the tassels on these sandals! this is such a great outfit for summer. what do you think?

ruffle cold shoulder blouse

20170526_201338

where do i even begin? this ruffle cold shoulder blouse that i received in my last fix is total swoon worthy! it is such a statement piece and i am so thankful my stylist decided to include it! as you can tell from this post, i am loving anything with ruffles right now.  Stitch Fix always sends me items that i cannot find anywhere else. living in a small town, it seems like everyone gets all of their clothes from the same few stores and because of that we all have the same wardrobe. with Stitch Fix I am able to have a wardrobe that is all my own!

did y’all have a good weekend? i got to see my sister this weekend after almost a year of her living all the way in Alaska! it was so fun to catch up with her and do some shopping. she really values my opinion when it comes to clothes so it is really fun to shop with her and help her pick out some new things.

hello lovelies! hope you all had a wonderful memorial day weekend. i was able to spend some time with my family for most of the weekend but then had to work the holiday. it was a cold and rainy day yesterday so i suppose it was just as well that i was at work. can you believe it is going to be june in just a few days? hope the new month brings some warmer weather!

dresses have got to be my favorite thing to wear in the summer. there are so many shapes and styles to choose from. the fit and flare style is the most flattering on me so i was really excited when Stitch Fix sent me this seersucker tank dress. i love the embroidered detail and the fact that it has pockets! literally always a plus. the fabric is super light and airy and i would totally suggest requesting this dress in your next fix.

mother’s day gift ideas

mothers day gift guide

one | two| three| four| five| six| seven

mother’s day is right around the corner have you gotten your mom a gift? i’ve heard a quote that said “when your mom deserves and island but all you can afford is a candle.” i think that quote is so true. my mom is seriously one amazing woman and she deserves so much more than i could ever give her. however, she does like candles and that seems like a good gift idea!

3-wick candle: i am obsessed with these candles from bath and body works and for mother’s day they came out with these adorable candles just for moms. with summer coming you can never go wrong with a new scent! my favorites are: cactus blossom, tiki beach and endless weekend.

write the word: this is a great gift idea! i’ve talked about these bible journals a few times on the blog. they just revamped them and i can’t wait to get my hands on them! there are 5 different journals and this particular yellow one is “cultivate joy.” you can purchase them here!

make-up eraser: ok so this one has my mom’s name written all over it. it never fails that when she comes to visit she asks for our darkest washcloth to wash her face and remove her makeup. this make-up eraser from nordstrom wipes away all of your makeup {even waterproof} with just water! say what?! i think she needs it.

stamped family necklace: these necklaces are so pretty and a personalized gift is always fun to give! the large disc can hold 15 characters and is a perfect modern idea in place of a “mothers ring.”

Stitch Fix Gift Card: want to get your mom some new clothing but have no idea what she would like? get some help from a Stitch Fix stylist by getting her a Stitch Fix Gift Card! this is especially a good idea if you don’t have time to get to a store before mother’s day. you can either print out the gift card and give it to her or send it via email!

st. tropez self tanner kit: i have heard amazing things about this self tanner. the older i get the more i try to stay out of the sun. we all want to be tan but we also need to protect our skin! this kit is limited edition and a steal of a deal!

origins masks: this gift set contains three of origins amazing face masks. i have tried the charcoal mask and it is a serious game changer! this is one of those gifts that i might just need to pick one up for myself too.

hope this helps you out as your scrambling to get your mom a gift! don’t forget mother’s day is this sunday may 14th!

happy friday lovelies!

this fun spring water bottle is from caribou coffee! you can use it as a water bottle or a tumbler.  it keeps my water cold for so long! i just love it.

normally i am a pretty neutral person but i can’t stop looking at this colorful clutch from target!

ok, you’ve heard me talk about Lipsense and even months later i am still loving it! praline rose was the second color i bought and it is my go to. if you would like to order Lipsense click here!

these $14 marble sunglasses are such a good deal!

i just ordered a fix from Stitch Fix and asked for some espadrille flats similar to these! espadrilles are really popular right now and i like them in both flats or wedges!

recently i’ve been really into graphic tees and i think i need to scoop up this one from old navy.

hope you all have a wonderful weekend! we may be heading to a barn dance tonight which i am super excited for. andrew and i love to dance so we try to take every opportunity to do that together! plus it is going to be in the 70’s all weekend! woohoo!
